“Hard Work Brings Good Things To You”
My biological grandmother died while giving birth to my mother. So, her oldest daughter raised my mother. Although she’s my aunt, I see her as my grandmother. Her name is Catherine Higgins (unknown-1980). Every summer I would visit her in Alabama. She would have me shelling beans, picking beans, shucking corn, and all that stuff that I did not want to do! But it made me a better person. She instilled in me that hard work brings good things to you. That’s the memory I have of her. She also loved to bake and her cakes were delicious!
